I NEVER HEARD OF IT AND MANY OTHER MEDICAL SPECIALIST EITHER. CHARCOT IS A destructive joint disorder initiated by trauma to a neuropathic extremity. It can lead to dislocations and fractures of the foot. Charcot affects 0.1% to 0.9% of people with diabetes. 63% of us with this disease will develop a foot ulceration, (that's the hole that's at the bottom of my foot). Charcot is often misdiagnosed which left untreated can cause severe foot deformity or amputation! I am trying to save my foot!!
