Molly Cool

I’ve always had a busy mind. Lots of ideas, thoughts, daydreams and what not. This mind of mind has given me thousands of fun directions to explore, many of which are lovely. My mind also goes to the not-so-great places. It when my mind gets carried away with the dark and the heavy I turn to mindfulness.

I have been practicing mindfulness based art since Fall of 2015. I find art making the perfect additive to a mindfulness practices are to gives me both the visual and the physical experiences as well.

Watch me paint while I colour and un-colour this rectangular canvas. You may catch me covering the canvas with bright squiggles or your might catch me covering up the bright with the white.

The process helps ground me. It helps centre my attention on the task at hand. It gives my busy mind a break. For the time I am working on art I am more aware of my breath and how my body moves.
